Tier limits

CSVwise has three plans. This article lays out exactly what each includes, how to change plan, and what happens if you hit a limit.

Free: 3 lifetime cleanups

A "cleanup" is one full pass through the four-stage flow. The credit is used when you confirm Start AI column mapping? on Stage 2, before the mapping runs. CSVwise shows you exactly what you're spending on that dialog: "This will use 1 of your N remaining free cleanups." Nothing is charged at upload, and nothing further is charged at download.

Free shops get three cleanup credits, total, for the life of the shop's CSVwise installation:

  • Credits don't expire. Use them whenever you want.
  • Credits don't reset on a calendar (there's no "3 per month").
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling does not refresh credits. We track credits per shop address, so a reinstall inside the 48-hour grace period picks up the balance you had. After that window the shop's data is permanently deleted, and a later reinstall starts over as a new shop. See Cancellation.

If you back out at the confirmation dialog (Not yet), or abandon the file before that point, no credit is used. Once you confirm, the credit is spent whether or not you go on to download.

If the AI mapping step fails, or a cleanup is interrupted after it starts (even by a closed browser tab), your credit is restored automatically. A failed or interrupted cleanup never costs you a credit.

Pro and Studio: unlimited cleanups

Pro ($19/month) and Studio ($49/month) remove the cleanup limit entirely. You're billed monthly through Shopify, so the charge appears on your Shopify bill rather than as a separate CSVwise invoice.

There's no per-cleanup metering and no monthly cleanup quota. Clean as many files as you need. Automated abuse protection caps how fast requests can come from a single shop, which no normal merchant workflow reaches.

Per-file row caps

Row caps apply to every cleanup, no matter which plan you're on:

PlanMax rows per file
Free1,500
Pro5,000
Studio50,000

A file over the cap is rejected before any work runs. No credit is used. See Catalog size limits for the reasoning and what to do with larger files.

Changing plan

All three plans, Free included, are real Shopify plans, so you can move between them in either direction without uninstalling.

  1. Inside CSVwise, use the plan line at the top of the app. It reads Upgrade on Free and Manage subscription on Pro or Studio. Any in-app upgrade prompt gets you to the same place.
  2. Shopify shows the plan picker with all three plans, your current one highlighted.
  3. Pick a plan and approve. Free is $0, so there's no charge to approve when you move down to it.
  4. You return to CSVwise with the new plan active immediately. No extra setup needed.

Prorated billing follows Shopify's standard rules for app subscription changes. You can confirm the prorated amount on the approval screen.

What happens when you hit a Free-plan limit

Out of cleanup credits (Free)

The Stage 1 upload zone is replaced with a "You've used all 3 free cleanups" panel and a See upgrade options button. No upload is possible until you upgrade.

Files you've already downloaded still work. Shopify's importer accepts them indefinitely, even after your CSVwise credit balance hits zero.

File over the row cap (any plan)

Stage 1 goes into its blocked state: a warning banner telling you how many rows your file has and how many your plan allows, plus two actions, Try a different file and See upgrade options. (On Studio, the top plan, only Try a different file appears.) Cleanup is blocked until you upload a smaller file or upgrade.

What happens at the Studio upper limit

Studio is the highest plan. Files larger than 50,000 rows are beyond CSVwise's current plans. Email support@csvwise.com and we'll help. See Catalog size limits.
